Are You Financially Prepared?

THE FINAL WEEK IS UPON US! As we enter into the final week of September and the last week of the National Preparedness Month, please take some time to become financially prepared, as that is the focus for the final week. Go to Ready.gov and scroll down to the final week's tips to learn about the steps to take to become financially prepared. In particular, we encourage you to visit the The Emergency Financial First Aid Kit (EFFAK) site. key chain money holder Key Chain Money Holder Take small steps today! Have small denominations of money on you and with your kits. In the event that we lose power, retailers will be limited to cash only sales and we will not have access to our banks or cash machines. Small denominations will go further, when retailers have no change to offer. So, I keep small denominations of currency on my key chain for emergencies, in a device similar to that depicted to the left. I must admit, that I have even been known to borrow from my stash when faced with a cash only situation. So, it works for both the little and big emergencies. JUST be sure to refill your money holder. Lastly, in light of the extensive flooding we are seeing in North Carolina as a result of Hurricane Florence you might be interested to learn that just one inch of water can cause $25,000 in damage to your home. Flood insurance is not an automatic in your home owner's policy, it must be added to your policy. To learn more visit FloodSmart. Enjoy your first week of autumn!
