The earthquake occurred at 10:56 PST yesterday. Oddly, I did not feel it, however my husband did. I learned of the earthquake about an hour later, when I called my husband to let him know I was stuck in traffic. He informed me that he thought he felt an earthquake and then confirmed it on pnsn.org.
Of course, I had to take a look for myself and learned that we have had a lot of activity in the past two weeks as evidenced on our local seismic network click here to access pnsn.org. In fact, when I looked at the map of recent activity yesterday it revealed a total of 201 earthquakes over the past two weeks. When you look today, it will show 194, with the largest event, 4.2 M, occurring off the coast of Oregon.
This really isn't a predictor of things to come per se, but rather a reminder that we live in earthquake country. If "The Big One" article published in the New Yorker in July of 2015 intrigued you, then this map should prove to you the need and hopefully push you to take steps to get better prepared.
