Do You Take Daily Medications?

THE PHARMACIES WILL BE INTERRUPTED When the next significant earthquake occurs it will likely interrupt our transportation system, utilities, food and water supply. If the provision of food and water supply is interrupted then most certainly our access to pharmaceuticals will be interrupted. If you are currently taking prescription medication then now is the time to add a back-up supply to your kit. You should aim to have at least an additional supply to last for a minimum of 2-3 weeks. It is also a good practice to put some over the counter medications in your kit too. Suggestions include aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, children's medicines, antacids, etc. There are creative ways to stockpile the prescription medications. Discuss your needs with your insurance provider, often you can order refills earlier and naturally stockpile the medications. It is also suggested that you contact your doctor and ask if they can provide any samples. Make sure to rotate your supply, so that you maintain a fresh supply in your kit. If you need refrigeration it is imperative to read next weeks tip, where we will be sharing guidance for generator selection.
