Here is this week's tip! Take photos now. Whether you prefer to use a real old fashioned stand alone camera or the one that comes with your cell phone, take it out and take some pictures.
Take pictures of your belongings, room by room. For example, take photos of the appliances in your kitchen, your collection of china and crystal, your computer equipment, your entertainment equipment, jewelry, furniture, artwork, etc. If there are serial or other identifying numbers include that information in the photos.
Once you have created your inventory of belongings, make back-ups of the list. Store them on your computer, an external hard drive, a flash drive and/or in the cloud.
While you are at it, photograph important documents, passports, drivers license, insurance information, loved ones contact information, list of medications, name and numbers for your medical providers, your family members and pets, etc.
This week you get Two for One!
We covered Flood Tips back in November, but we would be remiss not to remind you to be careful during the heavy rains we are receiving. In light of those heavy rains and associated flood watches/warnings, please take a moment to store your valuables higher. And If you are likely to have a flood near you, make sure to know the appropriate evacuation routes and avoid moving water! It only takes 6" of moving water to knock people down and 2' of moving water to sweep a vehicle away. If you encounter moving water TURN AROUND.....DON'T DROWN!
Have a great weekend, be safe and remember to take some pictures!
